Table of Contents

The web content management (WCM) is a module of Intershop Commerce Management that allows for creating, managing, storing and publishing content based on a set of predefined building blocks (pages, page variants, content components, page templates, component templates, includes and view contexts).

It involves the following areas:

  • Content model ("pagelet") development

  • Front end composition in Commerce Management

  • Actual content editing (possible in Commerce Management and in the Design View, the front end preview mode).

Content Management

Generally, content management is a set of processes and technologies that support the evolutionary life cycle of digital information. This digital information is often referred to as content or, to be precise, digital content. Digital content may take the form of text, such as documents, multimedia files, such as audio or video files, or any other file type that follows a content lifecycle requiring management.
