In Intershop 7/Intershop Commerce Management, the REST framework serves as the foundation for RESTful web services APIs. The REST framework acts as an additional access layer on top of the application layer. Specific APIs (back office, storefront, integration services, customer-specific applications, etc.) can be defined on top of this REST layer.
