AI agents & copilots

Copilot for Merchants released into general availability

The Copilot for Merchants GA release introduces new workflows for managing AI agents that make it easier for teams to offload and automate repetitive, data-heavy tasks.

Manage and schedule agent tasks

Rather than control each agent individually by chat prompt, users can now set recurring or scheduled tasks for agents in a new agent task overview in the Copilot for Merchants. Tasks like weekly or monthly report creation, batch translation jobs, or inventory checks, can now be created once and will run in the background while the team can focus on higher-level work. It also provides a clear overview for managing previous and current scheduled tasks.

Agent notifications and next-step suggestions

Agents now proactively notify users of finished tasks with a summary of the results, as well as proposed next actions, in a new notification sidebar.

Growing control over ICM functionality

The Copilot for Merchants itself is gaining control of an increasing number of ICM features this release through an internal MCP server. Users can now use the Copilot to create and view customers, check product prices, create CMS teaser content, check on job status, check inventory levels, and even create promotions.

Unified agent pricing

With the GA release, Intershop is introducing the Agentic Commerce Package — a tiered, credit-based, monthly subscription that merchants can use flexibly across all Intershop copilots and agents, making it easier to test different capabilities and assess the ROI of various use cases.

Competitive Intelligence Agent launched

A new merchant-side AI agent monitors competitor moves and market conditions, saving research time and turning scattered information into structured, visual reports. The agent tracks competitor advertising spend and keywords as well as market trends like seasonality, correlating these external factors with ICM data to project future sales performance.

Product Content Agent now optimizes for GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)

To improve product discoverability in GenAI searches, the Product Content Agent has been updated to generate optimized content that’s more crawlable by GenAI engines. Previously the agent was able to optimize product texts for classic search (SEO). Now in addition, it makes GEO optimizations, for example by creating LLM-friendly content like FAQs and How-To sections.

Copilot for Buyers in B2B aftersales use cases

The Copilot for Buyers provides personalized support beyond the initial purchase with new use cases in B2B aftersales, improving customer loyalty and reducing cost-to-serve. By embedding the context-aware Copilot into a customer portal, merchants can automate customer assistance, for example by sending reminders for service and maintenance, setting appointments directly in-chat. When connected to machine data from an installed base, it can even notify the customer about consumables that need replenishment, or faulty parts that need servicing.

Visual product finder

A new visual product finder feature powers an even more convenient buying experience with high-accuracy image-based product identification. Users can upload a photo to find products, initiate orders, or seek service assistance. A powerful AI image recognition model identifies technical products and spare parts in any condition, even if they’re damaged or dirty.

Customer experience & personalization

ACP (Agentic Commerce Protocol) product feeds now supported in ICM

The Intershop Commerce Platform now supports Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) product feeds. ACP is an open standard that provides ChatGPT structured access to catalog data, including images, prices, and inventory status. When a buyer searches for a product with ChatGPT, this information will appear directly in the chat, helping merchants' products gain visibility in GenAI product searches and increasing high-intent traffic to product pages.

PayPal Checkout: Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay as new payment methods

The PayPal connector has been updated to support all major credits cards as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay*, in addition to PayPal payments. Merchants can now manage all major payment methods in just one integration, reducing the time and effort needed to maintain their commerce stack. E-commerce managers can configure and control the availability of each PayPal payment method per sales channel.

Existing users of PayPal will need to switch to the new connector to access the new features. Once the upgrade is complete, it is pre-built and ready to use in the PWA storefront, available from version 11.0.0 and higher. Read more on how to make the switch to the new connector in the PayPal Complete Payments Service Connector 3 documentation.

* Apple Pay is a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. Apple Pay does not charge any additional fees.
Google Pay is a trademark of Google LLC.

Electronic withdrawal function

With the introduction of EU directive 2023/2673, merchants are required starting June 19th, 2026 to provide an easy online process for B2C customers to withdraw from contracts made online, such as purchasing a product or service.

An electronic withdrawal function is now built in to the Intershop PWA with the release of version 11.1.0, so merchants can stay compliant with this EU regulation without extra implementation effort. It includes a prominently displayed withdrawal function available throughout a configurable withdrawal period, a guided two-step withdrawal form, and an automated confirmation email to the customer.

Business user tooling

Design View UX improvements

This release, the design view — Intershop’s visual editor for managing the PWA storefront — is even easier to use for content editors. In addition to incremental UX improvements, the following highlight features bring significant time savings when making changes to the storefront:

Image / Media Asset management

Users can now upload and delete media assets directly in a new overlay. Assets shared from the parent organization and channels are visible and searchable in the new workflow.

Brand color palette in HTML editor

A limited color palette can now be set for use across all HTML free text modules in the storefront. For example, the web developer can set a range of usable colors from a corporate identity or design system, making it easier for content editors to stay consistent and on-brand.

Link selection & search in HTML editor

When content editors want to include a link to a content page, product, category, image, or media object, they can now search for it and select directly in a dialog box — no extra browser tabs or copy-pasting required.

Operational excellence

ICM updates automatically synched to storefront

E-commerce managers and content managers using the PWA can now move faster with improvements to synching between the ICM and the PWA caches. Now, when the ICM cache is updated, the PWA cache is automatically refreshed. This means users can immediately see changes they make in the ICM reflected in the storefront. Data that’s frequently updated in the ICM stays up to date — no manual cache refreshing needed.

For more details, see the cache clearing documentation.

Performance improvements on upload of product links and product variations

Product links and product variations are a hidden performance bottleneck in data uploads. Especially for technical products, linked products like compatible spare parts, consumables, and alternative products, on top of typical variations like size and color, can make the size of product data uploads exponentially larger.

Now, when a user or scheduled job kicks off an import, product relation data is now processed in optimized batches, in parallel. This update makes import jobs up to 5 times faster and greatly reduces the size of import windows.

This performance improvement is available in ICM 14.2.0 and above. For more on configuring data imports, Please see the https://knowledge.intershop.com/kb/index.php/Display/28223P#Concept-ImpexFramework-ConfigurationUsingPropertiesorEnvironmentVariables documentation.
